IPL 4 would have two additional teams battling out with the already existing 8 teams. This was confirmed by IPL commissioner Lalit Modi on Wednesday. The cities which are in the race are: Ahmadabad, Nagpur, Kanpur, Dharamshala, Indore, Cuttack, Gwalior and Vishakapatnam.
These are the cities which have the required infrastructure to conduct these matches. Where as cities like Rajkot, Pune, Baroda and Cochin whose infrastructure w.r.t stadiums are still under development have also been considered.. Complete details on the bidding process for the two new teams would be available on February 21. The base price for the teams has been fixed atUSD 225 million.
Tenders for the same would be made available at BBCI/IPL offices from there on. Once the new teams are announced they would have complete access to the IPL 3 just to help them have confidence & to get themselves prepared for the season 4.
